What’s the best log cabin?

Today I stepped into the world of custom log cabins at the Blue Ridge Log Cabin factory and model home center in Campobello, South Carolina. I took along my trusty Flip camcorder and put together a video to show you what I saw through my eyes. Having been through the “log cabin” experience myself some 25 years ago, I knew this would be a world apart from the time when we went through the countryside looking for an abandoned 100+ year old log cabin. Back then, we could buy a one room cabin for $50-$100 including the original stone for the fireplace. After numbering each log in correct sequence, they were moved to the new site, re-assembled, chinked and voila!
But that was then . . . Today, the advances this industry has experienced and specifically Blue Ridge Log Cabins, I found out you will experience no waiting, no agonizing over delays, no scheduling problems with contractors and little-to-no settling since factory-produced components end up more energy efficient.
I learned things like solid wood structures perform between 20% – 30% more energy efficient than stick built structures as a result of “thermal mass”. Blue Ridge Logs contain less than 18% moisture content, as their team carefully selects and kiln dries each log. Have you seen the Biltmore under snow?

Although we North Carolinians are definitely over winter, the snow is beautiful and never more beautiful is the Biltmore Estate covered in a blanket of snow. Here is my drive through the grounds as a winter wonderland. Enjoy!

Why Rose Hill Plantation?

Today I would like to show you the Clubhouse at Rose Hill Plantation in Leicester, N.C. For those of you unfamiliar with the town of Leicester, it’s approximately 12-15 minutes northwest of downtown Asheville. Leicester has stunning mountain views and you immediately feel very relaxed in it’s countryside.
As the On-Site Manager of Rose Hill Plantation I’m a little prejudiced as to what the development offers, but let me explain what it’s all about and you can make the judgement. Rose Hill is built on 58 acres of what I call a very large hill. I can’t really call it a mountain, but because all the sites are elevated and terraced, they all have tremendous mountain views. 40 acres of the 58 will remain green space, with walking trails, a fishable pond and raised-bed gardening. Pricing begins in the low $200’s to $350’s. You cannot beat these kind of mountain views at this price point and that’s why you should consider Rose Hill Plantation!
Rose Hill homes are Lock & Go, meaning they are single-family residences with condo ownership and are maintenance free. All the exterior landscaping, exterior building maintenance and water & sewer are included in the monthly maintenance fee of $156. Total number of homes to be built will be 103. All the roads, street lights, underground utilities and beautiful clubhouse are in. Tennis courts and Fitness area will be complete in a couple of months. Fantastic Weaverville deal!

Here’s another video of a property I found in Weaverville that I think is a great value. This particular home is about 15-20 minutes to downtown Asheville, yet a bit in the country. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths with a total of 1,356 square feet heated on .4 acre. What I really liked about this house was it is extremely well maintained, updated and clean as a whistle, ready for anyone to move in right away. It has a beautiful covered patio that will be great for 3 seasons out of the year. Priced at just under $180,000, it compares high on a list of comparables I searched for. The neighborhood is nice and all the homes look well cared for.

Asheville North Carolina Foreclosure
