Fun On-the-Cheap around Asheville – PART 1
April 3rd, 2009 categories: Places to go
We’re all trying to do our part in keeping expenses down, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t have a good time that’s inexpensive or cheap, right? Asheville has so very much to do, one reason we’re all here, so let’s take a look at having a good time that leaves your wallet feeling it’s taking less of a hit.
DANCING – On Monday nights, you can dance away at The Grey Eagle on Clingman Ave., Thursday nights you can country dance to your heart’s content at the Fairview Community Center for $6 per person. Directions, times and band details at www.OldFarmersBall.com This summer, you can dance for free during the Shindig on the Green series most Saturday nights in downtown Asheville.
FREE THEATER – The Montford Park Players summer season at Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre in Montford. The ensemble will open its free shows with “A Mid-summer Night’s Dream” on June 5. The up and coming season is online at www.MontfordParkPlayers.org.
MOVIES -Did you know that the Beaucatcher Cinemas on Tunnel Road offer free children’s movies at 10am every Tuesday and Wednesday? Go to www.regalcinemas.com/freefamilyflicks One of my favorite places to see a movie is at the Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company, 675 Merrimon Ave. Movies are only $3!! It’s a fun, family-friendly atmosphere, terrific pizza and quite the choice in gourmet beer. It’s a bargain but they do tend to sell out, so try to buy your tickets in advance.
I’ve still got three more fun categories to tell you about, so stay tuned in for PART II of HAVING FUN-ON-THE CHEAP AROUND ASHEVILLE!
